Skillet is one of the most well-known Christian rock bands. They got their start in Memphis, Tennessee in 1996. Their biggest hit is the song "Monster." The current members of the band include Jen Ledger, Seth Morrison, and husband-and-wife team John and Korey Cooper Jen Ledger plays the drums and sings co-lead vocals, and Seth Morrison plays the lead guitar. The lead singer of Skillet is John Cooper, who also plays the base guitar for the band. Korey Cooper plays the rhythm guitar and keyboard while singing backup vocals for her husband.
One reason for Skillet’s major success is that many of their songs are relevant to people both inside and outside the Christian community. Although Skillet has several songs that are clearly Christian in message, they also have many songs that deal with topics that people from the Christian as well as the secular word deal with on a daily basis. I think this is an ingenious strategy to introduce non-Christians to Christianity because it helps discredit the idea that Christians think they are better than non-believers, which is a belief that some non-Christians have.
